Lakeside Senior Lauren Brummet has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Brummet had a big start to the second semester with two double-doubles in two wins for Lakeside. On January 2, she helped lead Lakeside to a 48-46 win over Logan/Palco, scoring a career high 29 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 10-16 from the floor and 9-16 from the free throw line. She also had three assists and two blocked shots. On Friday, Brummet led the Lady Knights with 16 points and 13 rebounds in a 54-29 win over Pike Valley. She shot 4-8 from the floor and 8-12 from the free throw line and added three steals, two assists and two blocked shots in the win at Courtland. Brummet is leading Lakeside averaging 15.9 ppg and 12.0 rpg. She has scored in double figures all eight games and registered six double-doubles. Her success on the basketball court comes on the heels of another outstanding volleyball season as she was a 1st team all-NPL for the third straight season. She surpassed the 1,000 kill mark and finished her career with 1,260 kills, registering a career-best 426 kills in her final season.
