BELOIT TROJANS, Women's Basketball

Members of the Beloit Lady Trojans basketball team have been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athletes of the Week.

Beloit has been rolling since the calendar turned to 2024, having lost just one game in the new year.  The Lady Trojans are currently on a seven game winning streak since losing to a 4A-ranked Wellington team in the championship game of the Orange & Black Classic in Colby.  Six of those seven wins were in the North Central Activities Association and on Tuesday night with their 34-29 win over Sacred Heart in Salina, the Lady Trojans wrapped up at least a share of the league title.  Beloit is on top of the NCAA for the first time since the 2019-20 season, but they have won nine of the last 16 league titles with six of the past eight of those being outright championships.  They have an opportunity for their seventh outright title over the last 16 seasons if they can get a win over Minneapolis on Friday.  During their active seven-game winning streak, the defense has been the strong suit as Beloit is giving up just 33 points a game during this stretch while scoring 44.5 ppg of their own.  The Lady Trojans are currently 14-4 overall and 8-1 in the NCAA.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
