IAN KRESIN, Men's Powerlifting

Lakeside Senior Ian Kresin has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Fiber Athlete of the Week.

Kresin had an outstanding day at the Kansas Eight Man Football Association State Powerlifting meet this past Saturday, claiming the overall state championship in the 165# weight class.  Kresin lifted a total of 955 pounds, which was 80 pounds more than his closest competitor.  On his way to the overall title, he finished first place in two of the three lifts.  In the bench, he lifted 290 pounds, besting his top competitor by 30 pounds.  He also won the squat at 400 pounds, also 30 pounds better than second place.  He finished in a tie for first in the clean at 265 pounds, but due to his overall weight being a pound and a half heavier than the competitor, he took second in the event in the end.  This was Kresin's first overall state title.  He had success the past two seasons at state, finishing third place in each 2022 and 2023 at 181#.
