Beloit Hosts 53rd Annual Wrestling Invite
The 53rd Annual Beloit Wrestling Invitational gets underway on Friday afternoon and continues through Saturday. This year’s event features 20 teams including the host school Beloit and Smith Center from the immediate area as well as Abilene, Blue Valley Southwest, Chanute, Clay Center, Colby, Concordia, Hill City, Holcomb, Hoxie, Marysville, Minneapolis, Decatur Community, Plainville, Republic County, Riley County, Salina South, Silver Lake and Stockton. There are 8 teams that are ranked by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association and 49 individual wrestlers who are in the top 6 of their respective weight classes in either 5A, 4A or 3-2-1A. Beloit features one ranked wrestler as Freshman Brogan Monty is ranked #1 at 106# and enters with a record of 19-0. Another top wrestler for Beloit coming in is Coe Neilson who is 13-4 at 113#. Bentley Montgomery is #1 at 150 and 29-1 on the season while Eli Franklin is 26-2 and ranked first in the state at 215#. Alex Wilkinson is #3 at 144# and comes in at 20-6 on the season. The Beloit Invite begins at 2:00 with 1st Round matches on Friday afternoon. After day one, the tournament picks back up on Saturday morning at 10:00.
