Hamel Returning to NPL to Coach at Lincoln

As first reported late last week by Kansas Pregame, former Rock Hills coach and teacher Colby Hamel will be coming back to Kansas and the Northern Plains League to teach and coach in the USD 298 Lincoln district.  Hamel will be the head football and track and field coach for high school and will also be the coach of the junior high boys basketball team.  He will assume the role as strength and conditioning teacher as well.  Hamel replaces Dustin Patee as football coach and strength and conditioning teacher after Patee resigned earlier this month.

Hamel has spent the past two seasons teaching and coaching at Fairbury, NE.  Prior to that, he was the football and track and field coach at Rock Hills High School.  He coached the Grizzlies football team to a 9-8 record in two seasons from 2019 to 2020.

Hamel is a 2012 graduate of Lakin High School and played college football at Garden City Community College and Fort Hays State.

Hamel said in a statement on social media that he and is family are blessed and excited for this new opportunity to join the Lincoln USD 298 Family.
