Mears Signs with Doane Football

Beloit Senior Christian Mears has signed his letter of intent to play football at the next level at Doane University in Crete, NE.

Mears had an outstanding campaign on the football field in 2023, excelling in special teams as a kick returner.  He was named a 3A Kansas Football Coaches Association All-State returner for his efforts.  Mears was also selected to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Dallas this winter.  As a senior, he had 251 yards on five kickoff returns this fall, returning three for touchdowns in three straight weeks against Russell, Phillipsburg and Concordia.  Mears was also an honorable mention defensive back pick in the North Central Activities Association with 47 tackles including five for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery in his senior season.
