DAKOTA KATTENBERG, Women's Basketball

Smith Center Senior Dakota Kattenberg has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.

Kattenberg has been a mainstay for Smith Center Lady Red athletics over the past four seasons, contributing to a long run of success in both volleyball and basketball.  This winter, she has helped lead the Lady Red to a 13-1 overall record with a 6-0 mark in the Mid-Continent League so far.  On Tuesday night, she led Smith Center with a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 63-50 win over Hoxie, who suffered their first loss of the season.  In that game, Kattenberg also surpassed the 1,000-point mark in her career.  She also made major contributions in wins over Republic County (55-24) on Thursday and Phillipsburg (46-25) on Friday.  In the last three games combined, she is averaging 22 ppg, 9.7 rpg and shooting 57% from the floor.  On the season, Kattenberg is putting up 19.3 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.7 apg and 3.3 spg.  She is shooting 53% from the floor overall and 31.5% from three-point land.  She has also registered four double-doubles this season.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
