TATUM SEYFERT, Women's Track & Field

Beloit Junior Tatum Seyfert has been named the NCKSSports.com/Cunningham Fiber Athlete of the Week.

After an outstanding sophomore season in which she won the state title in Class 3A in the shot put and discus, Seyfert is off to an outstanding start in her junior campaign.  Seyfert has competed in six events this season and has brought home 12 medals with 11 golds and a bronze.  Her biggest performance came this past Friday at the 84th Beloit Relays, taking first place in both the shot put and discus.  In the shot put, she threw 45'7", breaking a 15-year-old meet record of 43'7 1/4" by Kayla Smith of Concordia in 2009.  Seyfert also won the discus with a throw of 137'1".

Seyfert has taken first place in all six events in the shot put this season, winning at Concordia (4/5), Smith Center (4/9), Pre-State at Wichita State (4/12), Belleville Lions Club (4/16), Phillipsburg (4/19) and Beloit (4/26).  The 45'7" meet record in Beloit on Friday was her season best.  She has also taken first place in all but one of the events in the discus, finishing 3rd at the Pre-State meet in Wichita.  Her 137'1" discus mark at the Beloit Relays on Friday was also her top throw in that event this spring.

We will announce the winners each week. Remember, you can nominate an athlete from any school sport.
