
Monty Wins 2nd Straight State Title; 13 NCKSSports.com Area Wrestlers Medal
Brogan Monty of Beloit repeated as a KSHSAA 3-2-1A State Wrestling Champion in 2024, winning the 113# weight class and finishing with a 36-3 record for his sophomore season. Monty took the title at 106# as a freshman with a 41-0 record and through his first two seasons now has two state titles with an overall record of 77-3. Monty claimed the title with a win by fall over Keaton Rottinghaus of Nemaha Central in 3:26 on Saturday evening. Other nckssports.com area State medalists at 3-2-1A Boys include: Chase Johnson of Minneapolis (2nd, 120#), Kharson Montgomery from Smith Center (2nd, 285#), Braylon Smith of Minneapolis (3rd, 150#), Eli Franklin from Smith Center (3rd, 215#), Brayton Peters of Minneapolis (4th, 126#), Will Donley from Ellsworth (4th, 132#), Luke Franklin from Smith Center (4th, 190#), Alex Dyke of Republic County (5th, 165#), Brodie Boudreaux of Beloit (5th, 215#), Owen Weatherhead from Republic County (144, 6th) and Brody Chambers of Southeast of Saline (6th, 285#). Also from the area in the 4-1A Girls State Tournament, Stockton's Carolina Northup brought home a 5th place medal at 100#.
