
Lakeside Earns 4th Straight State Sand Greens Golf Title
For the fourth consecutive season, the Lakeside Knights have reigned surpreme atop the Sand Greens Golf ranks in the State of Kansas. On Monday at the KSHSAA State Championship at Tipton Oaks Golf Course in Tipton, the Knights won the title by 33 strokes over St. John's, finishing with 311 to the Blujays 344. It's also the fourth straight year St. John's has finished in second place at State. Riley County finished in third place with a total of 351. The 33 stroke victory for Lakeside tied the second smallest winning margin during the four-year title run. Last year's 25-stroke win was the only one closer.
Individually, Lakeside junior Jace Cunningham claimed his second straight state title, shooting a 4-under par 66 for the day. He came in eight strokes ahead of second place finishers Ethan Wirth of Rock Hills and Harvey Listner of Riley County at 74. Other area top ten finishers included Elijah Field of Pike Valley in fourth with a 75, Gabe Smith of Lakeside took sixth at 77 and Chris LaRocque of St. John's tied for 7th with an 80. Tatum Miller oF Lakeside finished in 9th place, shooting an 83 for the day and Jacob Winkler of St. John's finished 10th with an 84. The full results can be found at the link below.
